QUERIES

BY KAREN HANSEN

Julie (Rasmussen) Blake from Bay City, Texas, who is a granddaughter of Bob and Mariann MARTENS, requested and was sent copies of all of the newsletters containing articles that her grandparents had written about their lives, their families and their house.  Julie had discovered some of the articles from our newsletters on our website, www.wgsonline.org.

Barb Harte called, looking for a graduation photo of her mother, Phyllis MENEFEE Boose, who had recently passed.  I was able to email her photo in the class of 1946 Walnut High School photo and give her the link to the Walnut newspapers.

I received an edit request for Christian DERMYER, who is buried in the Lincoln Township Cemetery.  Katherine Patton thought that he had been born in Germany and she found German records showing that siblings had been born there.  However, Christian was the first child to be born in this country; he was born in New York, which I found in many census records.

Eddie Renee Schulte sent an email requesting help in finding information on her great-aunt Claretta Melissa HUTCHINGS, who listed Walnut, Iowa as her residence on her marriage record from Jackson County, Iowa.  She married Gene Christensen from Harlan, Iowa, a 24-year-old farmer, at Maquoketa, Iowa on November 7, 1939.  Eddie sent a copy of the marriage record and I sent the Walnut newspaper website and mentioned the Albert Hutchings family at Marne.
