By indexing our obituary notebook, we found an obituary for a child, Mabel Benedict. Her father had purchased a plot on the south side of Layton Township Cemetery. She is buried there in Section E Block 5 Lot 10 without a gravestone.
“Mable, the eighteen months old child of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Benedict died at their home south of town Sunday, February 24. Funeral services were held at the church Tuesday afternoon by Rev. Aten. The remains were interred in the Walnut cemetery.” (Walnut Bureau, Friday, March 1, 1901, p. 4)
Mabel’s father, William M. Benedict, is buried in Phoenix, Arizona. Her mother, Dorothy Adams, is buried in Altadena, California.
