WALNUT BOY MARRIED AT MOBRIDGE, S. D.

Glen C. Carey married Isabel Morrison in South Dakota last Thursday. The newly married couple had to postpone their trip to Walnut, Iowa due to the weather. After a visit with family and friends they will return to Isabel, S. D. where Glen has conducted a large ranch for the past 13 years. Isabel’s parents are Mr. & Mrs. J. C. Morrison of Walnut. Glen’s parents are Leander (Lee) and Sadie Carey of Walnut.

MARRIED HERE MONDAY.

Lena, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. M. G. Bussow of Walnut and Frank Dennis of Omaha, Nebraska were married in Walnut, Iowa at the Lutheran parsonage. The couple will make their new home in Omaha where Dennis is a foreman at the Armour Packing Company in South Omaha.

GOLDEN WEDDING

Mr. & Mrs. Theo Rohlfs of Avoca were surprised on January 2nd at the home of  their son, Hans, where all of their children had gathered for a celebration. Mr. & Mrs. Rohlfs received a number of gold coins from relatives, friends and lodges. A bounteous dinner was served.

WEDDED FIFTY YEARS AGO

Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Long celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on January 4th quietly in their home on Highland St. in Walnut. A few friends called during the afternoon and left several gifts as tokens of remembrance. Joseph Long and Mary Ann Query were married in Jasper County, Indiana, January 4, 1874. They moved to Walnut in 1888. (Jan. 10, 1924, p. 1)

MARRIED AT WIOTA TUESDAY MORNING

James C. Menefee of Walnut, Iowa and Bertha Ann Rydl of Anita, Iowa, were married in Wiota on March 4, 1924, at the St. Joseph Catholic church. The bride’s parents are Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Rydl of Anita, Iowa. James Menefee’s parents are Lowell F. Menefee and Lillie Mae Menefee Tilton of Walnut, Iowa. The young couple will begin housekeeping in the James Fell property on Atlantic St. in Walnut.

RECENTLY MARRIED

Mr. & Mrs. Harry Sorensen were the guests of honor at a reception Thursday evening, given at the home of his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. & Mrs. Fred Kuhr, south of Walnut. (March 6, 1924, p. 1)

WALNUT YOUNG PEOPLE IN DOUBLE WEDDING-August 28, 1924

Miss Mildred Burkey and Mr. Hugo Paasch & Miss Irene Pardee and Mr. Fern Burkey united in marriage Thursday in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Mildred Burkey is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. J. B. Burkey. Hugo Paasch is the son of Henry & Anna Paasch. Irene Pardee is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Edward Pardee. Fern Burkey is the son of Mr. & Mrs. W. H. Burkey. Mr. & Mrs. Paasch will make their home on a farm north of Walnut while Mr. & Mrs. Burkey will make their home on a farm south of Walnut. The Bureau joins their many friends in wishing them a long, happy and prosperous wedded life. (Sept. 4, 1924, p.1)
