In the January, 2025 Antique City Roots, I told about finding the burial place of Jackson Carter. John Butcher and Jim Hansen set the stone that we received from the Veterans Administration. He is buried in Block 21 Lot 2 on the north side of the Layton Township Cemetery. Jackson’s wife, Pearl Carter, had purchased the south half of the lot. Pearl’s uncle, Alfred Vaughn, and Pearl’s grandbaby, Dora Dreyer, are also buried on that half of the lot. Those buried on the north half of the lot are Pearl’s parents, Benjamin and Nannie Vaughn, plus Nannie’s mother, Sarah Evans.
